Falcone's Crossroads

Where This Meets That

Tuesday Tunage – Moby

“Tuesday Tunage” is a weekly spotlight for music I deem worthy of a spotlight. To make it worth all of our time, I’ll do my best to emphasize tunes you probably haven’t heard before that represent the art in all its glorious varieties.

Moby’s Play and its companion album Play: The B Sides rang in the new millennium with a landmark blend of new and old, mixing together elements of house and ambient music with samples of old school gospel and early folk music.  In Moby’s hands, these eclectic arrangements are surprisingly compatible.  The fact that this offbeat collection propelled the artist to the forefront of the mainstream is even more surprising, given that deep music doesn’t usually thrive in the shallows.

This week’s spotlight falls on one of the lovelier songs from this collection, “Everloving”, accompanied by a rare, worthy video.  If you like what you hear, you might want to visit iTunes, where you can get the pair for dirt cheap at $9.99 (29 songs).  Enjoy!
