Falcone's Crossroads

Where This Meets That

Tuesday Tunage – The Bees

“Tuesday Tunage” is a weekly spotlight for music I deem worthy of a spotlight. To make it worth all of our time, I’ll do my best to emphasize tunes you probably haven’t heard before that represent the art in all its glorious varieties.

The Bees - Sunshine Hit MeThe Bees, also known as A Band of Bees, hail from the UK and might just make the best 1970’s music of any band to form in the 21st century.

With four albums under their belt, they have demonstrated tremendous stylistic range, drawing from 1960’s garage rock and psychedelia, to 1970’s easy listening, R&B, jazz, and reggae. One common thread that runs through all their music, though, is a vibe of decades past.

This week’s spotlight shines on a funky number called “Angryman” from their excellent, self-produced 2002 debut Sunshine Hit Me.  I hope you enjoy!
