Falcone's Crossroads

Where This Meets That

Asher, the Family Dragon

My daughter has been wanting a pet of her own for a long time now, so for her birthday a couple weeks ago we conceded.

We wouldn’t let her have her own dog or cat, because we already have one of those (and we know how that would work, anyway!).  We wouldn’t let her have a rodent, because they’re nocturnal and masters of escape.  We wouldn’t let her have a snake, because the last thing we need loose in the house is a snake – unless, of course, to chase an escaped rodent!

She didn’t want a fish, because, well, she thinks you should be able to “pet” a pet. I agree.

So, what did that leave but a dragon?  Introducing the newest addition to our household: “Asher”, the bearded dragon.  He’s been a great addition so far, and I must say he’s introduced me to a new side of myself: I never knew the excitement possible in watching a lizard catch crickets!

This is a beautiful dragon. It looks pretty large. Is he in an glass container? Pretty picture. Mom

Only about 10″ right now, but he(?) will get up to 20″-24″ if he makes it “that long”. Yes, he’s in a glass terrarium.
