Falcone's Crossroads

Where This Meets That

Just Outside of Heaven

Here’s another autumn-themed work of mine. One day I’ll make it to New England in the fall. We have beautiful leaves here in Georgia, too, but some of the most stunning pictures I’ve ever seen have captured the autumn leaves of the northeast. I especially love the ones where if you look hard enough, you can see a little white church steeple humbly peeking out amidst the fireworks of fall’s splendor.

I used regular and colored pencils for the church. For the trees, I used Prismacolor watercolor pencils for the first time, coloring varying shades and crosshatched patterns then went over each tree with a small wet brush.

I borrowed the name from a lyric in Kevn Kinney’s beautiful song, “A Good Country Mile”. It just seemed like a good fit.
