Falcone's Crossroads

Where This Meets That

Minivanscendentalism: Falcone Seeks Full-Sized Advice – Yukon or Suburban?

When we told our 2003 Toyota Sienna about our new baby due in January, it threw up its hands and said, “Well, we had a good run.”

While we plan to keep the minivan on hand, Baby #5 brings us to an interesting tipping point: we will have transcended the minivan.

Call us what you will . . . Catholics … Lunatics … Rabbitics …

I rather like the sound of “minivan transcendentalists” myself, or, even better . . . minivanscendentalists!   And yes, I claim all rights to that moniker, thank you very much.

So, being newly converted “minivanscendentalists”, we find ourselves gravitating toward two choices of full-sized SUV’s: Chevy Suburban and GMC Yukon XL.

The consumer reports out there in the Googleverse make them sound virtually interchangeable, so I thought I’d throw my hook out here to see if any of you own one and want to chime in.

Any thoughts?

Had a Yukon XL at the same time my sister had a Suburban. Couldn’t tell the difference. Both were great and reliable. We both regret trading them for smaller SUV’s. I get worse gas mileage on a newer, smaller SUV that I was supposed to get far better gas mileage on. Miss the Yukon XL everyday. Holds everything you can imagine. Carted 10 people’s luggage for a week long cruise to the port with four passengers on the ride. Everyone packed liked a woman (no offense meant to the women out the!).
