Falcone's Crossroads

Where This Meets That

Welcome Fall!

Cooler breeze, longer sleeves, chatty leaves, and chili. Pumpkin patches, tricks & treats, football, and Thanksgiving.

Fall is probably my favorite season of the year, and I’m so glad that today it’s here!

Last year I posted a salute to the spirit of fall. Today I offer a poem I wrote that was inspired by the same event that inspired last year’s post. I hope you enjoy!

School’s Out!

Here now
Looking out through the panes at the fall
I’m moved in mind to a time shed of measure
When leaves like fire, golden, orange, and red
Sparked from trees over brook and head and became . . .
Children, loosed on the last day of school . . .
Souls, set free on the last day of the world . . .
Laughing, ebbing, flowing, and playing on
A breeze we can not see but sense in a simple way
It moves us
